Climber Spotlight: Shauna Coxsey

Today, I would like to spotlight one of my favorite climbers, Shauna Coxsey. Shuana is a professional competitive climber who stands out as an incredible talent in the world of climbing. She started climbing at the early age of 4 and began competing at age 7. Shuana is the only one in her family who climbs and was initially inspired by french free climber Catherine Destiville.

Besides having taken gold in nearly 20 national climbing championships, Shauna is also recognized as the first British female to climb v12, v13 and v14 rock routes. In the 2016 world cup climbing championships alone, she took gold 4 times and silver twice.

In addition to being an iconic climber, she is also the founder and organizer of the successful, original Women’s Climbing Symposium. Shuana was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2016 Birthday Honours for services to climbing.

Shuana, you rock. Keep doing what you do. You are truly an inspiration to us all.
